Ice (Luna III) - and a Casting Call - by Kimberly Kelly Santini

ABOVE, detail of "Ice (Luna III)," BELOW, full version, 12" x 7-3/4", acrylics on a cradeled museum quality panel, the newest installation in The Luna Series, a study of black and white, $499. In process photos here. I don't think this painting is going to last long - inquiries may come to me.

I want to do a few more paintings of Luna (view Luna I and Luna II), but am far from done with my exploration of black and white. Which means I am casting for additional black and white muses. The ideal muse will have interesting markings and texture along with an expressive face. Nominations may come to me via email with the subject line "Black and White" - include 2-3 non-flash photos that you have taken where your black and white nominee makes up at least 1/3 of the photo.

PLEASE NOTE: Nominating individuals are under no obligation to purchase resulting artwork. By submitting photos, nominating individual is guaranteeing they are both the photographer and copyright owner and are granting me permission to create artwork from submitted imagery.

I can't wait to meet a crowd of new faces!

Thanks for following along with my artwork,
Kim

TAG!!! A game I'm playing on my facebook art page. Come by and join in! Donna Ridwgay

TAG!!! A game on my facebook art page.  It's a fun game and here's how it works.  I create a painting, I post it to my art page, with the word, TAG!!!! at the top of the post.

If you are the first person to respond with TAG!!!! beneath the painting, you just won yourself a painting.  I gave away the first painting this morning.  It was a 4X4inch painting of a horse's eye.  In the reflection, you see a car going down a gravel road.  I love painting eye reflections in horse's eyes.

I don't care if some artists tell me that is "cliche" or "overdone" or if they say they are sick and tired of seeing horse's eyes in photos and paintings.  I do it anyway and Kathy Tilander-Doyle, who won the painting, was totally delighted with it!  That was so much fun.

Here's the painting:

It did not last on the page for two seconds, so if you want to play, keep an eye on that page!

Congratulations Kathy!
I'm having as much fun with this as the winners are!

I've got some fun news about my latest horse painting called "Where's the Peep?"

What horse person doesn't recognize this face? This is much loved face from a really fun perspective otherwise known as "The Mooching For Peeps Face". The inspiration for this painting came from a Hanovarian mare, named Wrose, that I had the privilege of training for close to two years. She is a real character and her owner, Amanda, discovered that Wrosie had a penchant for Peeps. You know..those marshmallow chicks that come out around Easter? It seems they are also available for a lot of other holidays so Amanda and I would load up after the holidays when the ghost Peeps, bunny Peeps, Santa Peeps, etc.. all go on sale. Wrose could hear the subtle rustle of the cellophane that comes on the Peeps packaging and she would just go nuts nickering for her most favorite treat ever. This, my friends, is the face of a Peeps moocher.

 talented owner, Amanda Miller

And now for the fun news!

"Peep?" has become quite the popular painting! It will be showcased in the Horse Show Issue of The Chronicle of the Horse next week March 9) and now it's also going to be published in the next edition of the American Hanovarian Society's magazine!

And because you guys asked I now have reproductions available!

And because, y'all have been asking I now have Peeps available as a giclee reproduction!

This is an 8 x 10 (image is 8 x 10, support slightly larger) new, giclee reproduction. This image is printed on a 100% acid- free, archival quality, fine art paper and printed with archival inks. It comes packaged in a protective, acid free cello bag with backing board. I hand sign and number every print to make it a one of a kind piece.
