Sometimes in winter, the time passes slowly! This is a perfect time to begin a puzzle, and what could be more than a puzzle with horses in it!? Here's an image of "horse play". One horse telling the other that he's the boss in this herd of two! :)
There are other puzzles there on the same site, feel free to take some time to look around while you're there!
I hope you are enjoying the images I find in Montana for you...

Winter Royalty
This beautiful horse lives about 20 miles from our house. While Robert and I were out driving round looking for photos, we discovered her in her pasture. She's turned out for the winter, to do as she pleases-she's a Montana range horse. We were delighted to find her, looking so beautiful in the winter snow.
Now we present her to you....

Horse in the snow, near Square Butte, Montana

Sometimes in winter, the light and air have a wonderful quality. This was one of those days and it was awesome to be able to have a horse in the scene as well. One of my greatest joys, is being able to share the scenes I find in Montana with you.
I hope you enjoy Montana photos by Donna Ridgway.

Rainin' at the Rodeo
This image was featured in the All About Rodeos group on Red Bubble. It's a digital compilation of two photos, and I used some Photoshop brushes to create the rain. The original photo was taken at the Choteau, Montana ranch rodeo.
Hope you enjoyed seeing "Rainin' at the Rodeo!"

Rainin' at the Rodeo
Square Butte and Horses

I had this photo of Square Butte, and the old corral, but it didn't have any horses in the photo. I couldn't have that, so I added some. I had to completely change the light source on the photo of Square Butte, and the old corral, so I did a lot of digital painting.
To make the horses look like they belonged here, I did many layers of air brush colors, painting over them in places, making them fit into their new back ground. It was an interesting challenge, and very fun.
I got so absorbed in what I was doing! We planned on going to town, we got ready to go, I had to walk out the door passing my computer on the way, I was thinking so hard about this piece, I grabbed the computer and started working on it again.
After a while, Robert came back into the house, he said, "Donna, did you change your mind? I thought we were going to town." He'd been out in the car waiting for me to show up.
I have to laugh every time I think of this, maybe it isn't easy being married to an artist? I can lose all sense of time and place when I'm working!
My work can be purchased on my Red Bubble site...comes complete with shopping cart and easy viewing...
