I was fortunate enough to visit Emerald Ridge Andalusians last Fall and photograph their imported stallion Bandolero CLXXVI, or Bando, as Toni and David call him. I was amazed at his immense presence, yet he is every bit a gentleman and so sweet!It has taken me almost a year to put aside the time to paint Bando, as I knew he must be done in oil and it is one of the last mediums for me to try. I must admit to being intimidated and consequently dragged my heals for a while! Surprisingly, it came together with a lot of grace; much like Bando himself. It's such a thrill to work with what I would call 'a lucky shot' and a beautiful animal. As the old song goes... you take my breath away!
